Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to reflect about the conditions that would make possible the implementation of academic writing workshops at UNESUR. The lack of curricular formation that university students have in reading and writing is the starting point. Then, workshops for reading and writing are proposed so students can correct their weaknesses in those areas and finally develop their cognitive abilities that involve the expression of their ideas through the oral or written skill. As a conclusion, we affirm that the participation of teacher from other academic disciplines is vital to carry the writing workshops out, and it is necessary that to establish this activity as a practice in the linguistics policies at the university.
