Abstract

Knowing the evolution the process of education of geography induced to the exposition and development of this research, where it settled down like objectives: (a) To identify the curricular guides that demonstrates the evolution of the studies of geography in the UPEL-IPB from 1959 to the year 2007 and (b) to contextualize the process, when considering the conditions of the country and the city, specifically of the institution and the referred ones to the epistemology of geography. This research is documentary, descriptive, no experimental, longitudinal type. The data process is showed in pictures with interpretation, for it was combined the statistical description and the logic analysis. The obtained results take shape in unit, curricula of credit, scale of evaluation in the careers, duration of the higher education studies and a context that includes: internal evolution of the institution, human resources, programs, registration, graduates, influences of the investigation and the studies of masters, conditions of the country and the city. This is a contribution when Venezuela announces scholastic changes in other levels and modalities.
