The vocational guidance services at Carabobo University: current and future challenges

Abstract

This paper aims primarily to address diachronicly the institutional management of the Regional Vocational Guidance Program (PRIOV) since its creation in 1997 up to the present regarding the vocational guidance and psychological assistance services offered at the University of Carabobo.  Secondly, to make a quantitative interpretation based on the research carried out by Guevara (2014) and entitled Psychological Counseling and Counseling Services at the Faculties of the University of Carabobo in order to delve into the vocational satisfaction and psychological counseling of students of four of its faculties: Engineering, Education, Legal and Political Sciences and Science and Technology. Reality is approached with a multidimensional vision in which the empirical dimension is integrated with the interpretative one. The above explains the incidence of the factors put into discussion with the need for career choice, career and university Faculty changes school year take over, among others. Finally, the discoveries give reason to insist both on the successes achieved by the PRIOV, and on its relevance as an institutional resource of permanent social projection.
