General Guidelines
EDUCARE is a specialized journal for teachers and researchers conducting scientific activities in the field of educational sciences. Its purpose is to spread the results or research progress, proposals, cases or experiences that help the development of the education. It constitutes a regular four-monthly publication which is arbitrated and indexed, with humanistic and scientific character.
The articles that follow the Journal objectives and requirements should be published.
- Papers submitted for publication to the Journal will include experimental results, bibliographic reviews, qualitative and quantitative research reports, technological developments, scientific essays, proposed models, educational experiences, critic papers and analysis about recent scientific literature.
- All papers based on different aspects of educational science will be published
- Papers for submission to the Journal should be related to education in any of the educational system levels.
About the evaluation of papers
- Papers submitted will be evaluated following a double blind system. This consists on having two different experts, who do not know each other, correcting the same paper. This will guarantee confidentiality of process, authors and juries.
- Suggestions, if any, will be sent to author(s) for correction. Once corrections are done, papers are to be submitted again within a period of 30-day time. If papers are not approved, they will be sent back to authors and will not be considered for submission again.
- The Editorial Board has the right to fulfil all requirements mentioned above before papers are revised.
Papers presentation and submission
- The author’s papers for submission to the Journal should be original and unpublished in any other journal or electronic or printed source.
- A request signed by the author or authors of paper stating its originality; look at the structure of the letter at the end of the journal.

- Papers for submission can be published in Spanish, English, Italian or Portuguese.
About papers presentation and submission
- The author’s papers for submission to the Journal should be original and unpublished.
- Venezuelan author(s) will send the following to the Journal office:
- A request signed by the author or authors of paper declaring its originality.
- Three printed copies of manuscript: one identified with the author’s personal information and two without identification.
- A CD with manuscript identified using Windows Word 2003 or any compatible programs.
- Papers submitted for publication to the Educare Journal are to be sent to the Subdirección de Investigación y Postgrado de la UPEL-IPB, Programa General de Investigación, to the following address: Final Av. Vargas frente al Hospital Antonio María Pineda, Sector Este. 3er piso. Ambiente 321. Barquisimeto. Telefax: 0251-2524186 – 2516298.
- Authors from abroad can send their papers using Windows Word 2003 or compatible programs to any of the following e-mails: revistaeducareupelipb@gmail.com, malopima11@gmail.com .
- All papers will be able to be published in Spanish or any other language, like English, Portuguese, French or Italian.
About the structure of papers
- General aspects. Each paper is to conform to the following requirements:
- Title in Spanish and in capital letters (max. 15 words).
- Abstract, including a brief introduction, objectives or proposals, methodology, results and conclusions or final considerations (between 100 and 150 words followed by 3 keywords).
- English title.
- English version of the abstract, including the same elements described in this section.
- Body of paper: introduction, development and closing.
- References.
- Specific aspects. According to the type of article, the body should have the following sections:
- Bibliographic Review and Scientific Essays: a) introduction, b) development and c) closing.
- Qualitative and Quantitative Research Reports: a) introduction: context and presentation of the object, objectives or proposals; b) theoretical argument; c) methodological aspects; d) findings or results; e) closing, conclusions and recommendations or final considerations or reflections.
- Proposed models: a) Introduction; b) theoretical argument; c) Proposal description, methodological aspects; d) closing, conclusions and recommendations or final considerations or reflections.
- Educational Experiences: a) Introduction; b) theoretical argument; c) Experience description; d) findings or results discussion; e) closing, conclusions and recommendations or final considerations or reflections.
- Scientific Literature Review: see the specific section.
The paper’s body should include sections and sub sections without enumeration. Principal titles should be bolded and capitalized, and subtitles bolded and in small letters.
- Formal aspects for papers’ presentation
- Papers for submission including experimental results, qualitative and quantitative research reports, technological developments, proposed models, educational experiences and critic papers should be between twenty (20) and twenty-five (25) pages. Essays, twelve (12) to fifteen (15) pages. Bibliographic reviews between ten (10) and twelve (12) pages.
- Papers must be written in Times New Roman font, size 12, and 1.5 space.
- Papers for submission will not include appendices, indexes or acknowledgements. No more than six black and white illustrations (graphics, charts, drawings, pictures) are allowed.
- Footnotes should be avoided. Nevertheless, if necessary, they should be included at the end of paper.
- Papers for submission will be paginated, using the left bottom of the page.
- Writing style, presentations, graphics, quotations and other aspects should follow APA’s criteria (American Psychological Association. 1994.) Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th Ed.) Washington, DC: Author.
Reviews
- The Journal will include reviews related to recent written or electronic publications about literature or interdisciplinary investigations on the scientific humanistic linked to education.
- Reviews will be headlined with the complete data of the work including number of pages of the ISBN.
- The text will include the author´s evaluation and point f view of the reviewed work.
- The text will not include content subtitles but introduction, explanation and closing.
- The topic and the main problem will be presented at the beginning of the introduction.
- The target or potential readers of the work are to be specified.
- The work´s goodness has to be mentioned by the author.
- The structure (chapters, parts) of the work will be introduced with a complete synthesis.
- The presence of glossary, appendixes, and commented bibliography (optional) are to be mentioned.
- The work´s area will be highlighted with a panoramic and critical view by the author. A descriptive language is to be used.
- The work´s abstract will be located in its context.
- Reviews should be between two (2) and five (5) pages, depending on the work´s number of pages.
- The work should have been published in no more than three (3) years.
About quotes and references
- Quotes no longer than forty (40) words will be included in text, as a part of the paragraph, between quotation marks. Quotes longer than forty words will be written on a separate paragraph without quotation marks, margin of five (5) spaces on the left and right, and single space.
- Literal quotes as well as those paraphrased ones should conform the following order, “Surname, date, page number.” Example: (Rios Cabrera, 1989, pp. 65-66). Or Según Smith (1998) “El efecto del placebo, desapareció cuando…..”(p.276). If quote is taken from a web site, the paper’s autor’s surname, if any, is to be wrriten.
- All references in text must be alphabetically ordered in full length at the of paper under the tile of REFERENCIAS, using French indentation just as it is shown:
