Physical geography, geology and geomorphology: a scientific trilogy to the man’s service

Abstract

This article is intended to contribute with the discussion on the historical development of geography and its link with physical geography, geology and geomorphology. In the beginning, geography was a mere descriptive discipline which was focused on the description of today's well-known places found during exploration trips. As a result, a new trilogy, geography physics               ge%gy geomorph%gy is born. This new approach has brought light to different physical aspects of Earth and has consolidated in the last decades due to the use of new technologies. It offers humans new and clear ideas on how best to handle Earth natural resources.
