Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive research is to compare the anthropometric characteristics of Lara's female gymnastic team with the ones who participated in the Panamerican championship in Medellin, Colombia. The average values and Standard Deviation were grouped together with the values ofBody Mass Index (BMI) and Cormic Index (Sh/S) of the groups. Results show Lara gymnasts' profile as well as the Panamerican ones. It is concluded that Lara's female gymnastic team members are located in the central area, ectomorphic ­mesophormic, whereas the Panamerican gymnasts are located in the central area intersection mesomorphic - balanced. Similarities are al so observed, especially in the somatipic measurements and a little difference in their Standard Deviation.
