Abstract

The mathematical concept of function and its graphic representation present difficulties to students in this field. Considering this is the case, a strategy that includes the use of a web tool has been designed and applied to improve the understanding of these aspects. This paper is a report of such teaching experience. The sample was composed by students from the subject Mathematics II from the Educación Integral specialty at the UPEL-IPB. The strategy was developed in three stages. The first was based on the teaching of basic concepts. In the second stage, a web graph software was introduced to the class. The third stage consisted on the solution of an everyday problem. Results show that 81.25% of students agreed the strategy helped them understand better the concept of function. Therefore, this strategy proved being effective.
