Abstract

This paper is based on a reflective theory approach about the nature of teacher authoritarianism and the focus on socio-cultural diversity at university settings, such as daily demonstrations of the complex dynamics within the academic environment. To characterize this dynamic from these two points of view is not a simple task; there are multiple meanings that come from each one of these expressions according to the sociological perspective it takes on. However, to do this without any analysis or to ignore its repercussions in higher education would imply making an error whose effects extend beyond the theoretical implications since educational authoritarianism and the focus on expressions of socio-cultural diversity greatly influence the social, cognitive, affective and spiritual traits of the student.
